This mobile application (as developed by Vix Technology) uses standard smart phone features. This page describes what features of the phone are supported and how user data is used by the application and the policy thereof.
The application is designed to show real time bus location and departure information for selected bus stops. The user is not able or required to supply personal information or financial data as part of its working. The service is supplied free 'as is' by the provider and will not record or retain any information beyond the immediate session required to support the provided features
In order for the application to search for the nearest stop or show a map of the current user location it needs to send back the user's precise geographic position to the central server to compare against known stop positions / landmarks. This information is transient in nature and is not recorded by the central server beyond the life of the request itself.
The application has access to phone state for the purpose of determining whether the user is registered onto a communications network and thus capable of sending / receiving messages on that network. It does not use any customer personal information other than this and will not send any such information to any supporting central servers.
The application uses internet connection technology to communicate with its back end central servers and to link to related pages for help, customer support, and the twitter / facebook pages of the supporting service provider only
The accessbility state of the network is checked to determine what features can be used and an error message displayed if these do not meet the minimun criteria required by the application. No information is sent to the back-end server, this being local to the application instance running on the device only.
The application may use the vibrate feature of the phone to notify the user of events as part of its normal working and will not capture any data beyond the current application's session lifetime
The application does not disclose any data to third parties as part of its working and does not retain information beyond that required by the immediate session established to the central server.
This application has been developed by Vix Technology as an aid to the use of public transport (specifically bus service arrivals) with the intention of improving the experience of those using its services by supplying real-time Passenger Information in the form of schedule times and predicted arrivals.
